I once oversaw a radiology department
in which almost all technologists were cross-
trained in other imaging technologies. A
few of them even learned how to assist in
the cardiac catheterization laboratory. The
results were spectacular in that when some-
one was off, I had others who could easily
fill in. Also, every day employees rotated
where they worked. I even raised the pay of
these individuals to compensate them for
the flexibility they offered our facility.
