(Figure 5) was created to capture the various factors that could contribute to
injuries.
From the fishbone diagram, it was
clear that many different combinations of
materials, equipment, and methods were
employed every day and that some varia-
tions contributed to the poor ergonomic
practices that were leading to injuries. The
team decided to design an experiment to
test different combinations of materials,
equipment, and methods in an attempt
to isolate the best combination. Table 1
shows the variables include in the
research. For all variables except max
inflate and mattress surface, option 1 rep-
resents existing practice.
